So how could this work?
Typically I would suggest a set of between four and six sessions of sixty to ninety minutes each, preceded by an initial introductory session. This is usually enough to focus on a good number of key areas and to see some real positive results, but without needing a huge or ongoing commitment that might not suit you. Obviously we can add more sessions if you would find them useful. All details of any coaching you have are 100% confidential, and will never be shared with anyone else. All sessions can be run face-to-face, all remotely, or a mixture, depending on what suits you.
First session - chemistry
This introductory thirty minute session is really important. It gives us a chance to meet, to introduce ourselves and to get a better idea of the kinds of areas that you want to explore. This is also your chance to decide if coaching is for you, or even if you would just prefer another kind of coach. Assuming that you want to go ahead, then we’d also talk about the number and timing of future sessions and logistics like location, face to face or online, fees, and anything else that we need to discuss. This first session is completely free for new clients, and there is no commitment at all. Please get in contact if you are interested in setting up a free introductory session,
Coaching sessions - exploration
In the coaching sessions we will aim to identify what your goals and expectations are, both from the coaching itself ( “I’d like to understand what might be driving my lack of confidence” ) and wider goals in your life or career ( “I want to get on with my siblings better “, or “I want to work out what I need to do to get my next promotion”). In the first of these longer sessions, we will also agree how you want the sessions to work. More supportive? More challenge? Is it OK to probe reasonably deeply? What should we do if strong emotions appear? Back off or take note and explore further? What works for you?
We stay in this stage of exploration for as long as it is useful to you. Like all aspects of the work, progress is dictated entirely by your own comfort levels.
Closing session - the way ahead
When we’ve identified the last coaching session, we will use part of that time to talk about what happens next. Coaching is not useful if it becomes a crutch that you come to rely on long term. We will be aiming to equip you to move forward as an independent, confident and self-actualising person.
It’s often useful to agree a check-in point at some later date, to talk about progress since your coaching, and perhaps to revisit some points. Not always necessary, but sometimes helpful.
